Wharf at Downtown Honolulu, a good place to organize a fishing or whale watching trip. Ala Moana Beach Park is a great escape right in the heart of Honolulu. It's a popular place at lunch and in the evenings is full of joggers. Iolani Palace, the centrepiece of Hawaii's historical attractions and Americas only Royal residence. The Palace is now a Museum offering guided tours. The beautiful palace grounds have statues of past Kings and Queens. Iolani Barracks, built in 1870. The city has an exemplary living history walking tour around the city highlighting the city's past. The gothic Kawaiahao Church, Oahu's oldest church, was completed in 1842 and comprises of 14,000 coral slabs. Statue of King Kamehameha stands in front of the Aliialani Hale, the State Judiciary Building, built in 1874. Chinatown in downtown Honolulu is an enthralling mass of exotic foods and smells. The US Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbour is Hawaii's most visited attraction. Over 350 Japanese planes bombed the US Navy here in 1941 sinking several battleships and killing 2335 soldiers. |
